After a hearty lunch we set out to Otter Point to get a closer view of the rugged coastline we had been driving along all weekend.

The rough stone and deep blue of the water were breathtaking. Whenever we could we ditched the trail and instead forged our way across the rocky outcroppings jumping along as the waves washed up beside us.

As far as weekends go this is by far one of the best I’ve had in recent memory. I can’t wait for the chance to get back up to Maine and keep exploring.

Monday morning we set out bright and early to conquer whatever Acadia National Park could throw at us.

Out early as well was this local Mainer getting lobsters all nice and steamy.

Once we got into the park my companions and I were overtaken with a cacophony of colors from the trees as we hiked up 930 ft. of vertical granite rock face along Precipice Trail. At various points throughout the day I found myself just yelling at the top of my lungs as it was the only way my body could find of expressing my love of the nature that surrounded us.

The top.

There are very few ways I would rather spend an afternoon than by hiking and exploring the great outdoors and sharing it with some hysterical friends. Stayed tuned for the conclusion of the Acadia Expedition where we journey out along the rocky shores of Maine.

Over the holiday weekend three friends and I piled into a car and said goodbye to books and libraries for a chance to journey up north and get a better view of the wonderful state called Maine.

Getting up before 9am on a Sunday morning is a feat unto itself, but my weary eyes were quickly snapped open to full attention at the shear beauty of the scenery passing by us along Route 1. My companions and I quickly decided that at some point in the future we needed to secure a waterfront property along the Maine coast as a base camp for Northeastern adventures.

Our destination was Acadia Nation Park, but we stopped shortly in Portland along the way.

Eggs Benedict with Salmon. Killer.

Being in Portland I had to stop by the B&M of one of my favorite brands – Rogues.

No. 41 Wharf St. was an amazing example of how to do retail right. Great product, great presentation, along with friendly and helpful staff. The storefront below is just a little taste of the well curated bits and pieces of Northeastern culture held within. Walking through to the back of the store one encounters bookshelves filled with classic maritime novels, well worn vintage t-shirts, and a set of beautiful prints on the walls by Mikael Kennedy. After seeing them in person, grabbing some warm knits from Rogues is definitely on my holiday shopping list.

Our short stop in Portland coming to a close, our car full of explorers got back on Route 1 headed north. With many adventures ahead, stay tuned for the next installment of the Acadia Expedition.

On a recent morning a couple friends from the radio station and I hoped into Joe’s truck and set out to grab supplies for the weekend.

Joe AKA The DJ Reverend Blue Jeans drives like a madman up and down one-way streets.

While Dan AKA DJ White Boy Pleez holds down shotgun.

After shopping we stopped at Iggy’s (where Joe is master of everything bread related) to pick up some sandwiches and drinks.

Bellies full, we left off Joe’s car and proceeded by foot back to campus.

Also, beware if you turn the dial to 95.3 FM WHRB on Saturdays 9-10pm or Sundays 1-2am, as the two gentlemen above will blast you with some of the best curated hip hop around.
